My theory about computer viruses

I say it's the same guys who make the antivirus programs that make the viruses. In the beginning, they released a "virus", and everyone paniced. Then, they made a program that "protects" you from viruses, and everyone bought it. In fact, the reported "virus" wasn't a virus, nor anything. It was a fake. But this way they sold hundreds of programs, which doesn't do anything. It just "scans" your harddrive and give you a report.
Then they needed more money. "Let's release a new 'virus'", one of the guys said. Said and done, they spread the news that a new "virus" was on the loose, and told people it's far more advanced than the old one, so the old program can't defeat it, they have to get the new version. Which of course costs a lot of money. But then they'll be safe once again.
Now the guys started thinking, "what if the people get suspiscious when they never get viruses"? Viruses are on the loose, but noone you know has ever had one. Good protection, or is it all just bull? So they had to make a new version, and in this one, there's a small chance it reports you have viruses after a scan. Then the customers need to have their "viruses" removed. This, of course, is done in a computer shop, owned by the same antivirus guys. This way they make more money doing nothing, but the customer is satisfied when they make a new scan that doesn't find any viruses.
And so on and so on. Release a few new viruses every now and then, and new versions and updated of the programs to make you feel safe and keep your computers clean.
Thoughts?
Cor version: Viruses are made by the same guys that make antivirus programs. |
