Frank and Sharon Jabaji haven't been able to face the grave of Frank's son Salim for eight years. Until this month, when the gang member who murdered the 20-year-old Niagara Falls man was found guilty after a retrial.

In a crowded Toronto courtroom two weeks ago, Frank and Sharon Jabaji's lost decade finally came to an end.

No more days numb from medication. No more years spent in depression. No more panic attacks when they drive by a graveyard.

All it took was hearing the word "guilty," and their world instantly changed.

Not in a miraculous way. No verdict will bring back Frank's son Salim, who was killed in a Toronto nightclub eight years ago. But finally seeing the man who killed him being put away made them smile in what felt like forever.

"I didn't know what to do," says Frank. "I just started hugging everyone."

"It was surreal," adds Sharon, Salim's stepmom. "We had so much support ... people who have been with us for eight years, when we started going to court. They were there for us."

Police officers hugged them. So did courtroom staff. And the ladies in the cafeteria. They were like family. For eight gruelling years, Frank and Sharon dealt with their grief while making endless trips to Toronto for court dates.

They lost their jobs. They lost their house.

But they refused to ever believe the thug who killed Salim would go free. Even when a jury decided otherwise four years ago.

On that grim day, at the end of the initial trial, Frank somehow composed himself, thanked the judge, then told him "the justice system has failed." The man who had plunged a knife into Salim, 23-year-old Jeffrey Tuck, looked their way and smirked.

Their life only had one purpose now: Get Tuck back in a courtroom and wipe that smirk off his face.

Shout out to those who knew the kid. Hope this brings some relief to your life too.

That was Hullabaloo at the Docks in 2000...

My buddy spent a year and a half of his life locked up for that until they busted this Tuck guy for it...

Glad he's finally getting put away for it...

I have discussed this event during chatty times with friends and acquaintances, as I was a witness to Salim's body.

The event got tossed about as rave lore, Stababaloo and Murderbaloo used as punch lines.

All the while, a family lay in ruins.

Another friend of mine saw Salim crawling by her as he was dying....

Such a shame that happened...

Why capitalize "Justice"? It made it look like the band, Justice, has been served (i.e. owned).
