since some of you might have been there i thought id post this here as well...

So I was going through a dead computer of mine and was actually able to recover some data off the dead hard drive inside. And look at what I found. I haven't seen these videos in YEARS and I have looked quite hard for them and have never found them ANYWHERE. The closest I came was a 4 minute clip of the pvd set. But here are the versions I had many years ago. I still don't know if they are 100% complete, but this is probably about as good as its going to get.

Anyway, I enjoyed seeing them again as I've been to ultra several times so it brings back memories, but I figure some of you might want to see these as well. At least this was back when trance used to be something.

Paul van Dyk's video is 44 minutes and Paul Oakenfold's video is 22 minutes. So I split the pvd into 5 parts and the oakenfold into 3 so youtube wouldn't give me any problems. These were originally downloaded as .asf so you can imagine from 2001 the quality wasn't the best. But for what it is, I don't think it's bad at all.

Paul van Dyk closed the event and Paul Oakenfold played during the day (obviously from the video). I'm sure they both had at least an hour sets, but this is all I've got.

Enjoy.

Oakenfold with short hair and vinyl = win

Hard to believe that 01 was 8 years ago...

My brain is fried and I cannot remember if ultra 3 was the first year they didn't have it on the beach?

great vids.....memories....my favorite oakie was the next year when he had the giant bottle of vodka (and they had some visuals that looked like the twin towers)....just attended my 10th ultra in a row this past weekend

Oh man!! My first Ultra! WHERES THE VIDEOS FROM THE TWILO TENT!!!!!?????? That was bumpin!

I remember Oakenfold trainwrecking and all his grinding to a halt for at least a few seconds while they tried to figure out what happened. And God does his mixing suck!

I gotta say, the crowd doesn't look even half as scary as it does these days...

This was the first year at Bayfront but it was either a different area of the park or they gave it a major overhaul because back then it sucked getting around from the main stage to the other tent areas. The crowd would funnel into a small walkway area w a bunch of dirt/mud and go around a slight corner to get over to main stage, it took forever.

Theyve come a long way in the setup and production...

This is from the first Ultra I ever went to, good memories and good times...I still say that party should be held held at Bayfront Park, the Amp Stage is classic.

I like how there are 485 people on the stage. Cool find. Like going through a time machine or something.
