Kaskade Review at Slide 4/1 - dissapointment

I saw Kaskade last evening at Slide in SF and it was utter dissapointment. He tried to spin this funky house style that did not match the type of DJ / producer he is at all. He played very monotonous beats with no adrenaline or buildup. I found myself not dancing at all towards the end of the night.

Was anyone else there? Can you comment? I think Kaskade has gone downhill as a DJ since 2 or 3 years ago when he was local SF.

hhhmmm. Not good. I was thinking of going to see him this weekend in LA too.

I've always been (and will be) a fan of Kaskade. But the man just does not play like he used to do back in the day, DEEP HOUSE. His nowadays is just too uplifting and commercial. A lot of the deep house heads in LA think he's playing trance :tongue2

however, i'm still a fan. i think he's awesome, and although i like his older stuff better, i still gig out to his sets when i see him play.

just my thoughts.

Which has led him to become hugely popular due to all his radio airplay and had him sell out major venues around the world, which leads him to collect huge booking fees to play at said venues.

sounds pretty good to me...

I don't recall the last time a baseball player stayed in the minor leagues in order to break records, the whole reason for minor leagues is to fine tune your skills so you can play with the big boys.

Kaskade is playing with the big boys now(and charging patrons $25 cover in LA to see his shows while denver fans pay $10...):whip:

Kaskade playing in Slide is prob why he played a different style than usual. I would expect the sound you expect to hear from him in a large club.

I wouldn't see too much into what he played this night...

good point. and i think thats cool. i hope his career continues to grow. Just stating a opinion on how his music has changed. i had this same conversation with some other promoters outside of Ecco Lounge with Ben Watt.

I agree. He was off the hook at ETD POP last year at Cow Palace. Dropped some of the hardest house I have ever heard out of him.

At least I only paid $10 last night BigPerf :)....then again, it was a Wednesday.
