I like the kind of goofy, playful sense to the song that sounded like there was something going on with an LFO to pitch.
It's got a great hook, but after about four times, I was wanting some progressive variations to start occurring. You kind of kept me waiting but didn't disappoint with the gating, in that regard, but the reversion, I thought, could have been to a more developed version.
Bass isn't significant enough. I like the sub-tones, but you ought to try layering a bass with more tooth in, on top of it.
I like the rhythmic progression, but only on a very, very basic level. I think the rhythm section needs substantial development.
All-in-all, this being the first song you've released on the internets, it's not awful. It could definitely be developed, a lot more.
Please, don't fall into the trap of using mutes to create an illusion of pattern progression. It sounds like exactly what it is - one or two 4-8 bar patterns, replayed, over and over with obvious modulation occurring. Loops are useful in that they're a utility function, but loops, alone, do not make a song. |
