Movement Festival Warm-Up

Brought to you by PAXAHAU and NAVE!

Featuring PAXAHAU Residents:

-CHUCK FLASK

Chuck Flask began Dj’ing in the Detroit underground scene in 1997, developing his own style that seamlessly transitions through minimal, Detroit techno and house to appease any audience. In 2001, Chuck joined Paxahau as a resident DJ and production coordinator. In 2006 Chuck added the responsibilities of talent buyer for MOVEMENT: Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival and label manager of D Records; both Paxahau satellite projects. Through his involvement with Paxahau, Chuck’s performances further evolved earning him coveted gigs with: Sammy Dee, Zip, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Michael Mayer, Reinhard Voight, KMS, Marco Carola, Magda, Juan Atkins, Adam Beyer, Luciano, Dan Bell, Mathew Jonson and Carl Craig. With direct influence from some of the world’s top artists, Chuck expanded on his work as a DJ to also become known for his production talents. As a DJ or live act, Chuck has an unprecedented ability to satisfy any crowd while exposing them to the next level of electronic music.

With solo releases on Blazaebla and D Records and a joint release on D Records as one half of the duo VSOP, Chuck continues to develop both his DJ and Live shows leading to international gigs in: Malta, Space in Ibiza, Der Visionaere in Berlin, The Beatport stage at the Winter Music Conference and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

-JOHN JOHR

John Johr started Dj’ing in 1999, drawing influence from the early Detroit Techno & House sound. John’s sets maintain an artistic balance that blend a fusion of house, tech house, minimal & Detroit techno, a quality directly shaped by his occupation as record purchaser for Detroit’s famed Record Time. His status propelled through producing Input/Output, one of Detroit’s longest running weekly events and host to both new & veteran international talents such as Blake Baxter, Dan Bell, John Tejada, Seth Troxler & Ryan Crosson.

John also took up residency with Paxahau, becoming one of a select few DJ’s to represent the promotional powerhouse behind the decks. As a four year resident of Paxahau, John’s DJ career has further mobilized to include large Midwest events such as The Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2006 & 2008 as well as shows in Chicago, Cleveland, San Francisco, Miami, & Austin. John has also opened for headlining acts such as Steve Bug, Marco Carola, Cassy, Loco Dice, Marc Houle, Damien Lazarus, & Richie Hawtin. John continues to stand out among Detroit DJs using creative skills & years of experience as resources to provide an unequalled mixing display.

-Movement and Paxahau

Movement has become the ultimate stage for the city that founded techno music to showcase its electronic music muscle. Last year’s attendance nearly reached 80,000 over three days on Detroit’s Hart Plaza during Memorial Day Weekend, with fans enjoying 36 hours of their favorite electronic music artists and DJs performing on five stages. URB Magazine named Movement 2008 as its "Festival of the Year."

Paxahau is now in its fourth year as producers of Movement. Since 1998 Paxahau has promoted electronic music and has grown to include a web archive, booking agency, record label and an event production company which produces and promotes events all year round. With a network of alliances and resources that span the globe, Paxahau has earned the reputation as a premier promotions group within the electronic music industry.

-The goal of this event is to spread the knowledge of the annual Movement festival of Detroit as well as to bring the techno community together as one to celebrate the music and culture that drives us. This event will be a monthly every 2nd Friday of the month at Lava Lounge. Only the BEST in Techno music will be represented at this party. I Sincerely thank everyone in Chicago's Techno Scene of for their support of Paxahau and Movement, as well as our growing Techno scene as a whole. I could not be more excited for the future of the growing Techno culture of Chicago. We do have to charge a small cover of $5 after 11PM to pay the artists fees and transportation. So please come early!

Again thank you!

~Evan Clark
