Also anyone who knows the laws of pilotage of sailboat in Flordia, or within the US, very interested. |
What is your budget for the boat? |

I know to face the boat into the wind when raising the main then the jib(s) (ha I said jib(s))
I know that a wind direction ditector or film cassette film can be used for that. I know I'll get a little luff but can't get too much ---
Although I seem to get some level of discouragement on this.
I may stick around florida for a week learning the ropes before I head up the coast.
when have I said viola? |
You're justifying your sailing knowledge by citing devices to tell what direction the wind is blowing :wtf:
(called tell-tale's btw) |

Loses his navigation in the first week of sailing in the bermuda, drifts off into the atlantic for several months (while surviving on his own urine) where he encounters several other boats that could potentially have helped. Believing them to be pirates, he attempts to steer in the opposite direction. Frantically messing with the ropes, he entangles himself in an awkward position - his lower body dipping into the water, where it successively gets raped by tunafish. Finally, he drifts into arctic waters, where he is raped by polar bears. After floating on the surface for no less than ten minutes, his battered carcass is gulped down by hungry sharks. |

its not complex
you raise the sails in the right order, put the boat in the right direction .. go in the right direction and whala.. protect the sail.

Chris, I love you like the best-internet-friend that I never had, but for God sakes would you stop? Don't you get it, man? Provide him encouragement! Steer him in the right direction to get him out there on his own, sailing, being one with the vast emptiness that is the ocean. Support him! HE CAN DO THIS.
Because if you do all of that, he builds a significant amount of confidence in himself, will go ahead and do it and probably get ed up. As a result, we won't have to read his posts anymore. SUPPORT HIM. |

Would you not consider a motorboat? Would make things a lot easier. And invest in a decent life raft.
Just go for it I say, dont let people try and put you off, it just swim |
