i appreciate the input and they do have decent prices and my friend works there and would get me 10 percent on everything

but they quoted me over 2g's for 2 pioneer cdj400's and the djm400

You can haggle them you know. My one friend get them to knock a butt load off 2 CDJ 1000s Pioneers MK3s and a DJM800. Its like buying a car, Guitar Center will haggle.

imo, guitar center is the way to go. they will price match anything that you can find online (from a licensed distributor), and then you always have a physical store that you can return to should something go wrong.

guitar center wants your business... make them earn it. i also recommend finding one salesperson and always returning to them. GC salespeople work on commission, and they will take care of you if you become a good/regular customer. i've bought SO MUCH gear from GC, all though one guy, and now he really goes to bat for me any time I need to pick something up.

Here's some quick tips I learned form sellings cars for 4 years.

Don't buy on your first visit, no matter the deal they give you up front. You'll hear "Well this deal won't be here tomorrow..." Yes it will, the economy kinda sucks right now, and yes Guitar Center is hurting bad. They want sales, bad.

Try finding a few better prices online first, and make them beat it. Tell them, if you beat these prices I'll buy it from you right now. Make them work for you. Make them work against the management/decision maker.

If you have, make all the Guitar Centers around you price battle eachother. Trust me, they're not in it together. Each store wants your business, that salesperson wants your sale. If you buy it 20minutes away, he/she is not getting their commission.

You can really make a game out of this. Thats what customers used to do to me. Bastards.

Most of all, as mentioned above, stay loyal to the sales person that gets your business. You wont have to play games after a few more visits, and suddenly your mutli-day projects turn into quick 10minute stops. =)
