Fox News Calls Mr. Rogers Evil
View this Thread in Original format

"Little did I know, Mr. Rogers was an evil man. By telling children they're special just for being who they are, he helped create this generation of worthless, lazy socialists who think they're entitled to rewards without working... at least according to Fox News.

Watch the video. The Fox News anchors are completely serious when they attribute the differences in academic performance between Asian and American kids to the fact that Asian children didn't grow up with Mr. Rogers telling them they were unique and special. It's not that we have a failing education system or that parents aren't instilling the proper work ethic in their children. American children under perform because Mr. Rogers taught them to expect everything in life to be handed to them on a silver platter.

They actually use the word "evil" to describe Mr. Rogers and criticize him for his "optimistic message." Then one of them starts babbling about how children should go back to churning butter and making their own sweaters. I didn't make it all the way to the end, but I wouldn't be surprised if they blamed him for 9/11.

I've been doing a lot of research on generation y (and now I hate us... we are causing a lot of issues lol)

The world does view as us lazy, demanding entitlement, demanding respect often before giving respect, we do think we are special, we also think we are smarter than the older generation

Maybe because we were surrounded by so many of these messages... also growing up in the age of technology has made our thinking so different than previous generations.

I dont see this story being too far off... although I couldnt watch the news segment (since Im at work). Im sure Fox got carried away with it like always.... aka Mr.Rogers was not EVIL... just creepy

Really its because their parents are so hard on them and expect so much out of them (at least with the asians I know)

Mr. Rogers aside it's pretty easy to see just by looking around us... everything needs to be made available and dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Everything coming out of somebody's mouth or on paper needs to be said in a special way so as not to offend the sensibilities of somebody's precious snowflake.

GOOD JOB GENERATION WHY

/foxnews lol wut?

It should actually read as Fox *News*

The loud-mouth pap they try to pass off as News is mildly entertaining, at best...

UPDATE: there is a book out that touches on this topic, "The Ego Boom: Why the World Really Does Revolve Around You". Authors say the new narcissism partly explains the global finance mess.

CBC "Q" radio 1 program interviewed the authors on Friday (April 10 2009) - podcast available - the segment starts just before 41 minutes and ends at 59 minutes.

END UPDATE

Actually I think they might have a point about Mr. Rogers and the "you are special" idea. I know some people who are lazy, not too smart, and dishonest. They're arrogant and have that "entitled" attitude even though they've done nothing at all, but they had well-off parents.

I know they were spoiled rotten when they were kids and always told they were great. Their parents had the idea that they should always tell their kids they were the greatest, never give them a hard time cuz that might bruise their fragile little egos. That is an approach to parenting that is fairly recent, I think the idea was put forward in some parenting books back in the 60s/70s and Mr. Rogers picked it up.

Why the do people even watch Fox News? And how could you start a debate based on something you saw on there? Using their retard propaganda as fodder for discussion only serves to further the descent into total idiocy.

Cockpunches for everyone.
