So I started a new song last night, taking a break from prog house. It's very rough at the moment, but I thought I would post a sample for critique. The song doesn't pick up until half way through.

I know alot has to be added to it but I would appreciate suggestions on how to improve it.

Thanks.

I would put some drifting pads in the background for depth, with very little sidechain compression on the pads. What software are you using to make that track?

I'd layer that distorted chord-stab, on the down beat, with something that has is completely distortion free. It could be a synth you have playing in unison or another part, altogether.

I'm using FL Studio 8 and Nexus to create this track.

Make your bass better. I think your song would do nice with a melodic bass. The one you have is pretty monotonous.

Other than that the track seems to be done by someone relatively new. Thoguh you seem to have made music before I won't patronize you :P If you have made music before I would say there is a lot you could do to make the track more interesting. The lead melody is rather basic. Trance imho would be so much better if leads and bass became harmonic and melodic.
