so i found this great listing for a rental on craigslist and it was like too good to be true. so the guy writes back talking about how he and his wife are doing some missionary work in africa and their house is for rent and they just want someone they can trust to live there and bla bla bla...i'm thinking, "hmm, ok sounds good". gives me the address and everything and tells me to drive by and see if i like it, which i did with my boyfriend a couple of hours ago. but i had a feeling it was a scam because he was talking about me giving a "refundable $800 deposit" first so he can mail the keys for me to see the inside and see if i like it. i'm thinking yea ok dumbass i'm just going to western union $800 to a ing stranger in west africa lol.
so we drive there and find it and there's a dude outside (neighbor) and we talked to him and it turns out someone lives there and has been living there for a while. the guy in the email from the listing said it's vacant. this is clearly a scam and i'm ing pissed off that this piece of ****** just wasted my time and thinks he can get away with this.
is this reportable? i mean he's probably in another country. he gave me 2 phone numbers that are foreign. i kinda want to play along and bust him and tell the police, or is that stupid and should i just write back and be like "nice try u head. bye' |

| You flag it, forget about it and move on with your life. If people really reported every single scam people put out on craigslist it would be such a waste of time. At least you were smart enough to catch on. |

yea but people really do stuff like this on craigslist that often? this is a little heaftier than a typical little bull listing. i mean the guy had a legit picture of the property and everything. the neighbor we talked to was concerned when i told him there's a picture & address to that property on craigslist. |

Yeah, Craigslist is full of like that...A friend of mine was looking for a new house to rent, and he said about 4 out 5 five decent listings he came across were scammers with pictures of the houses and everything. |

Craigslist is very popular for scams.. but you do find some hidden gems.
