If you get the chance to go see him, do it. He just leveled Riches here in Houston. One of the best sets this year.:eyes: His sound reminds me alot like Max Graham in a sense.
On the other hand... Opening DJ James Reed did a good job of PLAYING EVERY LAST MAINSTREAM TRACK KNOWN TO JULIO. But I wasn't surprised, really. As I've said...its one thing to play music that gets the floor going, but another to be original about it. Chris Lake went on at 12:30...so looks like whenever I go to Riches again, that's when I'll be showing up :) |

Sounds good brotha. I spent most of the day ing around with bass wood and x-acto knives in my studio at the college, and I'll probably be spending the rest of the weekend there. So I either missed a thread (if there was one) or didn't check groovetickets, but I had no idea Lake was playing. I'll be checking out Kaskade in May. The last show was nice.
James Reed needs to go poll dancing at South Beach Club on Montrose. |

Actually they were $15 but it was still worth it. |

Chris absolutely destroyed Dallas last night. That is how you build a set.
We had the same problem with ty opening DJ's. Chris went and told the guy that was playing before him to pitch it down a bit. So what little direction his set had just totally fell apart because he didn't know how to play a track under 134bpm. Chris had to stop the track and start his set from dead air. It's always nice when the headliner totally cuts off your track to start his set. Full Access needs to learn how to build a night around whatever headliner is playing instead of throwing the same guys out there playing electro all the time. They never will though. |

Yeah I've never liked the openers at the Dallas events after 2004. Wasn't too impressed with Johnny Funk at the PvD event either.
The problem with Riches on friday nights, as I understand it, is that James Reed has some sort of contract with Stereo to be the resident DJ EVERY friday night. The only exception being when NightCulture is the one throwing the event. I think its bull, because it lets no one else have the opportunity to play. (and show management there's much better talent to select from) |

| Go read the Usless Blabber section on DDM. It appears Chris Lake didn't like it either.... |
