so im buyin all my equipment this week and i cant decide between serato and traktor.... ive been usin serato for the past year now and its fine but i think traktor might be a better program, wha do you guys think?

I like Traktor. With Serato you have to get some add on programs to do things that Traktor already includes with their program.
Dream Beamz
plus with Traktor, it comes with a sound card thats universal to other apps such as ableton and what not.

Serato uses an interface thats not asio compliant. Plus on Traktor you can actually see the horizontal wave forms

4 decks ftw, if you plan on playing techno
PvDoBseSSioN
yeah im gonna play techno, house, deep house pretty much

whats the difference between traktor pro and traktor duo?
stan229
duo is the cheaper, more entry level one.. 2 decks only and an audio4 instead of a8
PvDoBseSSioN
yeah i just read a couple things on it, and for what im doin i think its good enough, i can always upgrade later

im gonna be using the djm400 and cdj400's so duo is probably fine
DJ_Lord

limin_li
dude, have we not provided enough information for you on the dj booth section? lol

To the previous posts, if ableton is that important then, just wait.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear that Serato is pretty much the club standard these days with the equipment pre-installed in more DJ booths (although generally considered to be technically weaker in terms of SQ).

Also regarding Ableton, I hear they're actually collaborating with Serato for an upcoming product - not sure how it would work exactly but it should be interesting nonetheless.

I'm going to say its generally the standard. I believe the issue is that people try to be elitists. They want the harder or more hardcore piece of software/hardware just so they can say they do it with that. This is a on going thing with people of that mentality. Serato does what most people need and does it well. I just really believe that people are now against it as its mainly the standard so its like "why be like everyone else?".
