Note Length in Logic Pro??

This is probably something really stupid but ive read my manual and can't seem to find an easier way to change the length of my notes. When I was using cubase you select 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 note etc from the drop down menu and the length of the note change in the piano roll. Ive tried everything in logic but the only way i can change the size of them is by selecting the note and and dragging it left or right to choose what size. Is this the only way to do it?

cheers

Have you tried step recording Barry?

It may not be your cup of tea but in the piano roll, go to the top and click on Midi in button (it's next to the green midi out and lights up red).

Now what you do is go up to the options menu at the top of the page and choose step input k/b. Now you change the note length by clicking on them and just hit the note you want on the k/b.

Give it a go mate ;) Other than that I just change the time in the transport toolbar from say 16 to 32 if I want to insert 32 notes.

you can do it easily by using the gate length parameter into the inspector. if you have eights each quarter, and select a gate length of 200%, you'll have quarters, 50% and you have 16ths.

The inspector is really useful.
