the annual Billabong XXL awards are coming up this Friday where they give out an award for biggest wave of the year, ride of the year, biggest paddle-in wave of the year and a few other categories. These are the nominees for biggest wave of the year. Who do you think takes it?

That really takes a lot of balls.
I almost drowned last year due to swimming like an idiot at the end of the day after surfing whole day with storm waves.... |

I think the Guiness record went to Pete Cabrinha for his 2004 ride at Jaws. They measured it at 70 ft.

I know in many cases, the winners do split their prize money with their tow partners.
and yeah, it pretty much all started with Laird. The guy is insane. |
