Well
It was ok
EXCEPT
Your breakdowns are really, really good (with a few minor glitches). Really good. As in, the second breakdown reminded me of Orbital or Daft Punk. It's got that ancient sound to it, too.
Here's a few things I noticed:
-If you're going to put glitches or stabs or effects or atmospheres during a breakdown, they have to be motivated by something. What I mean is, a person shouldn't be "noticing" them as being out of place. You want them to sound natural, not out of place, and I sorta got the feeling that they were "there because breakdowns have them". How to combat this issue? Have something lead into the snap, or follow the snap. You'll need a whoosh or a stab or something that can team up with your glitches to help them sound natural. Delay seems to be the crutch everyone uses to "naturalize" stuff. I don't know. Maybe that's what you were going for but they seemed to "pop" at me and when something does that it just doesn't seem right.
-The intro is a bit lengthy and IMHO a bit boring.
Decent mixing, and a solid soundscape. I especially liked the "organ" or synth that's doing the backing in the second breakdown.
7/10

I like the style of the bassline, and you have some rich textures going on, the drum hits overall seems to lack a little punch.
Some of the pads are a little dominant in the mix as well.
The vocal sample is nice. |

Thanks for listening peeps, thats some good feedback kyle. Im not one for intros really, its more so theres something to make it dj friendly to mix into
The stuff in the break, yeah i agree its a bit random, sometimes i lose patience with the smaller details like that! (maybe i should give these details more weight)
re the drums hits subtle, ill need to listen again to it later and see how pucnhy there are, i take it you are saying the drums are a bit flat?
Thanks :D |
