Six stabbings overnight in Montreal
Three bar fights turn bloody
The Gazette
April 19, 2009 1:08 PM
One of the first mild Saturday nights this spring turned out to be a bloody one in and around Montreal, with six stabbings in four separate incidents.
Just before 4 a.m. Sunday employees of the Circus after-hours bar on Ste. Catherine St. near St. André St. were arguing with patrons waiting in a line-up outside the bar, Montreal police constable Philippe Collins said.
Three men in their 30s, all employees of the bar, were stabbed during the fight, he said. They were in stable condition in a hospital Sunday but were cooperating very little with police, Collins said, adding that investigators so far had no suspects.
About an hour earlier, a 29-year-old man was stabbed after a fight with two men near St. Ferdiand St. and St. Jacques St., not far from the Place St. Henri metro station. The suspects got away and the victim, who was in stable condition Sunday, has not been cooperating with police, Collins said.
Earlier, at 2:30 a.m. at the Globe restaurant and bar on St. Laurent Blvd. near Milton St., a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach, Collins said. The reason for the attack was not known. The man was in stable condition Sunday morning. Police had no suspects.
About the same time, at the Fuzzy Bar in Brossard on the South Shore, a 24-year-old man suffered a punctured lung after he was stabbed three times in the upper back during an altercation that was still being investigated Sunday morning, Longueuil police Constable Pierre Quintal said. The fight started inside the bar and then moved to the parking lot, Quintal said. Three men were to be questioned and were considered as important witnesses, he added.
Collins, of the Montreal police, said the incidents were difficult to link to the milder weather, but he said “things got busy in Montreal bars last night. It’s always the case with warmer weather that there are more people out in the bars.”
He noted that the city was relatively calm despite a loss by the Canadiens to the Bruins in Boston and a well-attended Ultimate Fighting Championship at the Bell Centre. |

how about 85%+ of Hell's Angels getting arrested earlier in the week so all the street gangs take this opportunity to gain some grounds? would make more sense than linking those stabbings to the weather imo. |

just want to underline the fact, that from all clubs attacked, only one avoided that it got inside... circus.
unfortunately 3 agents (at door) paid the price, at no time were our customers under menace thanks to their bravery. I hope for a quick recovery for all of them.
the change in entrance configuration (more than a year ago) prevents this type of attack. Our exterior and interior camera system is one of the most sophisticated. We also take a picture of identity cards of customers we don't really really know (dissuasive)
Everyone is searched thoroughly.
we also work hand in hand with montreal police (eclipse) to help us get rid of street gangs that don't have access to our club for months. Police presence is already increased. |
