Demanding someone treat a religious trinket the way you do is asking them to bow down to your belief. If you remembered correctly, you were upset NOT that people didn't respect the Rosemary in YOUR hand.......but that they didn't give that trinket in THEIR hand the respect you want them too.
....and somehow in your head THAT was equal to you burning down a mosque?
THAT IS IGNORANT
Now, if you had said you were walking around cleaning your ass crack with a ceremonial dagger you could have made your point the correct way..........even though your point was wrong. |

Some people wear rosaries as a sign of their devotion. If you are a catholic wearing one around your neck then I can see your annoyance, but for Christians in general, if they choose to wear one I don't see a problem with it if you're wearing it as a display of faith, not as a fashion-statement. It shouldn't be disrespectful towards the people who do believe in the Rosary's symbolism (such as you), if they believe in Jesus themselves.
YOU can show respect by not judging everyone that wears one without questioning their motive, instead of claiming that everyone who chooses to wear it is disrespectful towards people like you. You are not aware of how one see's their belief in Jesus. Religion (faith) is personal....Don't listen to people who claim that they know everything about a certain faith |

For the first time in TA history, i like and agree with your second paragraph. As stated earlier, i don't care what different people's religion is. Whether it be worshiping Satan or an Owl, as long as it makes you feel good then that's all that's important. However, I think that if people wear articles of clothing or a rosary that is a part of a person's religion and do so not in its intended purpose it shows disrespect and their ignorance towards that person and their religion. Ultimately people just need to be informed. Heck, even a person like David Beckham who is apparently a catholic wears it as a necklace, gives the religion a bad rap and i'm sure has people shaking their heads.
Just stop wearing rosaries like they are jewelry, those who do it look like idiots. plain and simple. if people are so respect averse to the point where they think it's a chore to show some occasionally, then something is truly wrong with society.
but yeah, religion is ed...good times |

Correct. Therefore if a Catholic wears a rosary around his/her neck then I can understand where your coming from. As a devout Catholic, it is wrong to wear it, instead it should be used as a device to pray (fundamentally to the Virgin Mary). However, not EVERYONE that wears a rosary is Catholic, but are Christian. Nor do they have the same beliefs towards the symbolism of the rosary. Then, a Christian (a person who believes in Christ but not Catholic) were to wear one, would you still consider it blasphemous and/or disrespectful? |

I'd prolly just laugh at them and ask what church they go to given than protestant religions are rooted in catholicism. |

Everyone is entitled to their own belief...you choose not to wear one because you believe in its sole significance, some people want to wear them because they don't believe in that same significance. There is nothing wrong with diversity. Instead of laughing at the person try respecting in what THEY believe in, and not pass judgment on them.
