i change songs on my ipod through the head unit. my ipod stays in the glove compartment.
i think the reason they have the law againt mp3 players is because most people keep their ipod sitting on the passenger seat or cup holder and have to look down to change songs. most mp3 decks are placed high enough on the dash board/center console to still see the road. |

people that plug in their mp3 players and then spend a good 2 minutes "looking for that right track" have their eyes far from the road..my sis being one of them...so distracted by it...
another thing that must be banned is women (and/or pansy guys) that feel the need to complete their hairdo/makeup/whatever while driving |

one time my buddy was coming back from ottawa and he had his dvd player on the dash watching a movie and smoking a spliff.. got caught.he might as well been shootin up! |

I was watching a CBC special on this, and they ran a test that showed drivers with headsets were equally distracted while driving. The distraction wasn't physical, but mentally they weren't focused or paying attention to the road. They were paying attention to the conversation. Also, regarding the GPS, the most effective ones were the ones directly above the steering wheel, integrated into the car's windshield.
correction: the CBC didn't run the test, they went along for a ride with an American University that was conducting the test. |

wouldnt talking on a headset be the same as talking to a passenger in a car? does this mean that talking in a car would be banned too? |

| Having a conversation on your cell is one thing...but I think texting while driving is another! Drive-n-textin' is super distracting and should definately be punished! |
