Hey guys,

I am planning on getting a Mac Book Pro and Logic 8. Do you guys think its a good choice for a Trance Production DAW and computer? Should I get PC? I heard heard that Macs are good for music. Is that true??

Mac is fine.

Macs are great. PCs are great. Logic is great (from what I hear). Cubase is great. Sonar is great. ProTools is great. Making music with any of them is great. Marketing hype is great.

While that may sound somewhat sarcastic, the reality is that they're all just tools. If you've never used a Mac or Logic, I'd suggest trying to get your hands on them to see how they feel to you before spending that kind of cash, but I doubt you'll be disappointed (even though I'm a PC user).

tbh its just a load of crap to my eyes, a computer is a computer as cryophonik said!
What i really believe is how well u tune your OS to make it respond the way you want it 2. Macs use Intel now, so run on the same cpu architecture as PC's from all i can think why macs are preffered over pc etc is it's operating system thats all.

I bought i dell studio 17 laptop as of late, it ok have to do a bit of tunning for vista and my motu doesnt like the firewire chip set so i know need to bypass it with a pc card express adapter with a TI Chip set firewire port.

In the end you need to way up what suits you and how it can get the job done for you. :)

Mac vs pc threads suck. That being said I have 9 computers. 6 Macs and 3 PC's, guess which I like better.

To answer your question, yes that will work just fine. I think you should be looking at what OS/DAW you like to work in. They both can get the job done.

What about Linux?!? Your DAW software is all free on Linux!

I feel the need for a sarcastic rant. This is just getting too much.

While u will have problems running OSX on a PC u can very well run XP on a Mac so if ur buying a mac you sort of cant really loose.

i have trouble running xp ( driver issues with certain hardware) on a mac so that isn't quite accurate.

Despite the fact that i own a mac and prefer a mac, i think a pc is a great choice for anyone starting out in that they are quite cheap.

But the question is about whether a mac book is good enough and the answer is yes.
