Personality disorder on SoulSeek: the compulsive banners

If you're familiar with SoulSeek you'll know what I'm talking about. This guy must be on his PC every minute of the day for sure watching for people to ban. Below are his rules for anyone downloading his stuff. Intense. That's all I have to say. Username: Trancet (I swear if you're on TA I will find you and kick your inbox's ass). This is what can be found under his User Info:
The rules are to help keep my queue times under an hour for the good ppl who share and help promote sharing on Soulseek . I try to be courteous to sharers. Just 2 rules: SHARE and DON'T OVERQUEUE. The details....
Queue 5 at a time, 10/day maximum (double if you are a friend or frequent source). There is no minimum time before you can add more once one finishes. Your deleted requests do NOT come off my upload queue until they are up for transfer so they count in the queued total but not in 10/day max. You can message me if you wish to change choices.
If you share less than 37 identifiable (artist and title in file name/path), complete, useful, music files (NOT m4a, mpc etc)---> ban
This includes "list only" ppl who "forget" to add me BEFORE downloading. I am NOT interested in hearing about your reason for not sharing, if it's a temporary condition, then wait till you are sharing before making requests.
If I have to wade through a sea of crap to find your music, or have to click more than 5 times to get to any actual files you are also in danger of ban, regardless of what may be buried in there.
If you have 0 upload slots (Max U/L) with files available to everyone and a queue full of victims = immediate BAN,IGNORE. If you are list-only then setting your public slots (Max U/L) to 0 is redundant and stupid.... why?... because not everyone knows that they are on your list and may simply avoid or ban you. BTW that's the only number that shows up when you get user info.. NOT the List slots or the total of the two.
Ban = banback
Queue >15 = instant ban, no checks, no warnings.
If you queue a whole folder by ACCIDENT message me IMMEDIATELY and you might not get banned.
If you whine you'll probably make my ignore list as well. You could have been banned months ago so don't ask me why you were banned... this info is here for you to figure it out.
In fairness I have an UNBAN policy for those banned more than 1 day ago... share more than 1K files of one of my 3 favorite genres (organized). Bummer if you're on ignore also. If you have 0 uploads you're still banned. |

not sure that you actually use soulseek, (but if you do) i think its pretty sad and you don't care to help or support the artist that put there hard work and efforts into the music that they produce.
And Yes to comment on the title of the thread that is a little bit of a personality disorder but who cares that guy is a douche for using soulseek |

| What the guy is demanding is normal. Go on private FTP or Torrent sites and you will see the rules are similar. They do it to cut down on leechers who just want to download and not share. |

hinting and saying yes i have never used a torrent site or 3 party software to find music that is not supposed to be in my hands all the music i have and play out is either through promos from the artist or the labels them selves or friends of mine have passed them too me or i have purchased them, the ones my friends have given me if i know are usually from soulseek or a third party torrent site i usually delete cuz the quality is rather ty either a rip from a vinyl or a VBR
im just saying that this is the demise of records sales for both digital and physical and i know this first hand cuz my brothers label chug recrods and opek music was a direct crash because of this issue not to mention distributors in north america going belly up cuz of this factor ... all im saying is support the artist for the efforts they have put into making this music you love and appreciate so much... |

i don't exactly support what the op's intentions are, but people are going to do what they are going to do.
i just think that it is funny to bitch about not being able to pirate something.
if you want it that bad 2.49 is not that much even if you have a MacJob. |

i get that no worries. i also dont have to justify how much i spend on my music needs in my yearly budget versus what i do get for free. besides, there are other ways to support those same artists. like going to see them play in clubs and events. they do get paid to DJ right? im assuming part of this money comes from ticket sales...

naw. my reaction was towards how specific and particular this persons rules were (eg. must have 37 correctly labeled artists plak plak plak). and how pathetic his existence must be sitting in front of his opened soulseek in the look out for people to ban... i had never seen that before... guess i dont download that much after all ahem ;) |

You pay 0$, if you're lucky you'll get something > 0$. If you pay for something you don't get, then you have reasons to complain. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
I don't know why, but sometimes I cannot buy some tracks cause of location something... s doesn't want me to support them? Then screw them...
Kinda reminds me of how Marco G sucked when I went seing him. It sure wasn't worth the 8$ I payed for. |
