Fidget house in Gainesville!! Starts May 20th @ Spannk! (pg. 2)

her mixing is good, she has really long transitions, she plays with a lot of energy and drive. i can tell she probably gets the floor moving moreso than 90% of other local residents ive seen.
just one problem: in that set i heard hall and oats, gloria estefan, blondie, and other crap along that same line.
another problem: its crusty old generic chicago house.
i dont think people really have a clue these days, they actually think they can get away with playing house tracks that sound exactly the same as when the genre first started almost 20 years ago, and expect clubs to stay packed when you have a whole new crop of kids that just turned 21 coming through the doors. and what does this new generation hear when they walk in? "oh jeez its that music my dad/older brother is into"
its a shame her dj skill is wasted on ancient music. |

duh, its Gainesville..
I haven't listened to anything of hers online so I am not referring to that specifically. I remember her doing a 100% vinyl sexy deep house set like a year ago which was the best thing I've heard in gainesville, but I guess maybe recently the owner has requested her to play some more "familiar" stuff to bring more people in? *shrug* |

I can't stand Chicago house and anything that resembles it. This will not bring people out. They have been trying this in Tally and it's gone nowhere. |

santiago and bushido, one of the more popular artists of fidget house, is in chicago. but fidget doesnt sound like old chicago house, it sounds more like electro and hard house. |

The first nite was a bit slow due to a torrential downpour.. lol.. But This past Wednesday showed growth.. I played a 3 hour set.. Had a great time.. The owner is behind the nite now.. People were def. digging the music.. Even had a breaking crew stop through towards the end of the nite... I think people are ready for something new ..
Got Justin Fortune & Innate stopping through this Wednesday.. In case you haven't heard of them.. They drop some badass Electro.. It's gonna be a fun nite.. |
