Need to find a new home for my cat :(

Hey all,

*sniffle*
We tried convincing our new landlord to let us keep our cat, but to no avail. Our first choice was to find a pet-friendly place but just about any place not in a ghetto and would talk to me with no job had a no-pet policy....so we just are having to bite the bullet and let our cat, named Bubba, go. :(

I have a nearly five year old black _house_ cat (does not go outside). He has no fleas. He has had his shots and all and his neutered. He's also friendly...real friendly. Super friendly. He loves attention! He has a real shiny coat and doesn't shed that much, compared to most cats.

We adopted him when he was 11 weeks old in Nov 2004. He had a broken leg (with a cute little orange cast, heh) after being found in a construction site in the SF Bay Area. He still wobbled/ran up to Michelle right away!

Anyhow, before I try to find a shelter (with a no-kill policy) that will take him in, Michelle and I are asking around with peeps we know as we'd feel better doing this than having some complete stranger take him in. I'm sure he'll be adopted rather quickly if we have to take him to a shelter as he will run up to anyone who is willing to pay attention to him and show them some love, but still...just would feel better having someone we know be his new caretaker.

I'll post some pics of him as soon as I can. I don't have any on me, but sure Michelle has some of him on her laptop. Will get them from her when she gets home later tonight.

*sniffles* :p

does he get along with other cats/dogs? kids? kinda throwing out questions cuz others might ask as well.

I wish I had known before...we just went to the shelter and got a cat but maybe he could use a friend if my hubby allows. ;)

Yes, he actually had a brother (who we had to put asleep early last year because his urethra was narrow and kept getting clogged ... just happens with some cats) and also lived with two other cats.

When I talk about how friendly he is, I am not exagerrating. He might be the friendliest cat I've ever been around (and my parents used to breed them...we'd have 20-30 cats at a time back in the late 80s or 90s). He loves to force himself onto your lap to lay down and fall sleep, hehe.

And with kids, we have a two year old and he's very patient with him as Devin likes always starts of petting him fine before it turns into him patting him on the heard real fast and kinda hard..(He's trying to be nice to him, but doesn't realize how hard he's hitting poor ole Bubba)

That said, we might have a potential person to take him in from Michelle's work. We'll see. She has a big ole german shepard and I'm not worried about that.

man that sux, having the cat with you your entire life then giving them up...that is real real sad. i feel you on this, decision must be pretty tough. i myself have a 7 yr old cat and finding a place to live that accepts pets is hard.

well goodluck and hope you find a real real good home for him.

if I could, I totally would!! That is so sad. :(

No cat deserves it. And whats worse is there is more of a pet problem these days. More pets, more renters, but less landlords willing to allow pets. GRRR

Best of luck. I will keep in an eye out. Hell, maybe I can convince my lonesome grandma to take a cat one of these days. (Still in mourning over the death of her 16 yr old Yonju...and my grandpa)

He left for (hopefully) his new home tonight. A friend of Michelle's. It's technically a test-run right now as the person has a dog and Bubba has never been around any animals other than cats...but I don't think there will be any problems.

The person's dog has been around cats for years (until they all died recently...of old age. :-p)

YAYYY! I hope everything works out. And then you guys can visit.

Hope it works out for all.

I have a cat that is 18 years old. He is just the greatest.
