But isn't that why there's a March........and a Festival. March = politics. Freedom Festival = Fun.

true true :)

On a lighter note, it stopped raining and the sun came out right before 420, and (Fab Strong I think) played a remix/mashup of Bob Marley - Exodus, and life was good.

Individuals need to make a statement in their own way. Not everybody needs to march, and not everybody even needs to smoke. There are quite a few people out there that believe in the merits of decriminalizing pot, because it is a burden on the judicial system, and not because they are users. This festival, allows everybody to come together for one event, and stand up together.

I think the whole event went off really well. Protesting, marching, and yelling is good and fine, but a nice peaceful protest to get your message across is something to be respected. The demonstrators showed they can congregate, and make a statement without pushing, shoving, throwing, swearing, or engaging themselves in any other lewd behavior associated with large crowds.

People need to look at this from more than one point of view. These issues effect our society in many different ways, and effects many different people. Who are you to tell them how they should make a difference, especially when you have no interest in the cause?

I haven't actually expressed my views on decriminalization yet, have I?

I don't think it's hard to argue that the message comes across as it's a day of partying and getting stupid. how many teenagers give a about political change?

If we were to petition for a later last call, or wider distribution of alcohol into grocery/convenience stores, would it help our cause if we all showed up and got faced outside Queens Park? Of course not.

The harm is that people ignore what is meant to be the actual point of the march because it looks like most people at the march don't take it seriously (you being a prime example).

Must be bittersweet for the people more serious about the cause itself - lots more people coming, which is great, but not necessarily attracting the kind of attention they are hoping for.

ugh......u r way to politically correct about everything. Judging by your comments in this thread u don't smoke weed....but honestly, maybe u should. u need to CHILL OUT ;) i went to the festival to have fun, to dance to some house music...not to March for the cause. I'm a weed smoker, but that doesn't mean i have to be among the ppl there to FIGHT to legalize it, when it doesn't bother me either way whether it's legal or not. I'm sorry u feel this makes me a prime example of why YOU think this cause has been lost on certain ppl. Just because i didn't want to go to protest and shout about the cause, you're saying what...should i have stayed home????

you're a buzz kill to a thread where ppl just want to talk about how random and fun the FREEDOM FESTIVAL was.

oh relax, send in your complaint to the toronto star instead
FunkyCrew
girls, Sarah IS making a valid point about the march, not the festival afterwards
so seems like you need to relax, not her!

hmm nope, im perfectly fine
opinions are great, but not complaining and whining

well her point IS being lost on most of the people in this particular thread though Kristina. She should start one about the MARCH then. She's clearly wasting her time here.

Fab playing in the BPM tent :) Manzone was a no show.

TONS of people :)

Umbrella Lady. One of my favorite characters of the day. The entire time we were in front of the BPM tent "prob. an hour and a half", she stood like that, motionless with her umbrella...completely in la la land. Notice dude beside her for next pic.....he steals her precious umbrella :P

the Weed Man...gettin' picked up by these 2 random chicks that were taking pics with EVERYONE, even though they clearly knew none of the people there. lol

Nicole joined in on the Umbrella dancing.

ADDY

ICE CREEEEEEEEEAM. Real life rainbow bright was in front of us.

like i said.....it was a Circus.
