Only $40! and it's been getting great reviews at gearslutz, kvr, cakewalk forums, etc. I haven't used one, but I keep seeing it mentioned and I know that people here are sometimes looking for a good bargain mic, so there you go.

If you get one, be sure to post a review. ;)

I need a mic for podcasting, and this looks like the ticket; I'll be sure to give a review, should I pick one up.

...Definitely nice to have a cheap condenser mic that won't make you kill yourself when you destroy it with phantom power :P

Good find.

Is it some sort of sale or the price always this price?

With shipping/tax its about $52, can get a Shure SM58 for about $60 off clist...

I wonder how it compares to a SM58

I've heard great things about the Studio Projects B1

SM58 is a dynamic microphone? No need for a comparison since this is a condenser. SM58 is more suitable for live use. If you're gonna record vocals in a studio, condenser is almost always the way to go.

Anyways, the mic seems like a good find! Another pretty cheap mic but REALLY good for it's price is Studio Projects B1. I have it and I love it. I've worked with far more expensive mics when I studied sound technology a couple of years ago and the B1 can be compared with far more expensive mics! :)

$40 is the regular price. It's weird, though, that the link I provided above seems to be the only place you can purchase it from. :conf:

^^^ Yeah, what [Alpha]]Dave said. ^^^

Audio Technica 2035 and Rode NT1-A are pretty good low-cost mics. I know a bunch of people that have these and are completely happy with them. The AT-2035 runs for $149US and the NT1-A goes for $229US.

I'd be weary of this either being a refurb, or a total POS. You get what you pay for with this type of stuff, no doubt.

It's not a refurb and, from what some of the heavy-hitters are saying, it's apparently not a POS either. Do a Google search, search any of the major production forums, read the tweakheadz review, etc. and see for yourself. Like I said, I haven't personally used it, but with that reputation and at that price point, it's not much of a gamble.
