sound installation piece 'the hermetic process'

this is a recording of a live sound installation piece that i am doing for an architecture symposium at my alma mater

it's a pretty simple concept - I take pieces of gustav holst's 'mercury' and loop and layer them with some basic filtering and reverb.

this will be performed live in the great room of an old house with mahogany covered walls. the idea is that the increasing density of music begins to swirl/emanate/fill the space in the same way that a fluid fills a container. by 'filling' the space with this sound and then removing the sound at the peak of the crescendo, it aims to create a hyper-awareness of the performance space itself, allowing the listener to feel the space as the presence of an absence, if you will.

all in all it's pretty simple, but i just wanted to share it.

That was interesting and pretty unnerving.

Nicely done.
