Hi guys. It started absolutely pouring here in Chicago today and, stuck at home with nothing to do, I decided to do something I haven't done in awhile: record an all vinyl mix with no edits and no planning. Some of you might know this is quite a departure from the norm for me as I'm usually perfecting everything in Ableton nowadays but it felt good to get back to the old school on this one.
Enjoy...the 12 inches of pleasure =)

01. Ame - Sarari [SONAR KOLLEKTIV]
02. Vince Watson - Bubbles (Loudeast Remix) [ALOLA]
03. Oliver Klein & Martin Eyerer - 5 Null Klatsche [SESSION DELUXE]
04. Franck Roger - Flashback [EARTHSTRUMENTAL]
05. Justin Martin - Angels & Demons (Dub 1) [BUZZIN FLY]
06. Cardboard - A Song About You (U&K Remix) [CUBA]
07. BarBQ - Music From The Great Plains [BUZZIN FLY]
08. Jeep Grrlz - It Takes Me High [EL CHOCOLATES]
10. Samuel L Session - Velvet (See-Know Remix) [ELP GERMANY]
11. Layo & Bushwacka - Ride The Train (Bushwacka Remix) [OLMETO]
12. Tokyo Black Star - Blade Dancer (Dixon Edit) [INNERVISIONS]

And if you're wondering why the sound quality is so good, its not just cuz its 100% vinyl, this mix was also mastered on my awesome new Xone:V6 rotary valve tube mixer. Tubes...yummy =)

Thanks for looking! |

| Just spent the morning listening. I don't think I'm just telling myself this--the sound quality was fantastic throughout (it's been a while since I've heard little pops/cracks at quiet parts too). I don't know if it was the vinyl, the $5000 mixer (really??) or Ame's production, but the first track in particular made me think I had better speakers than I'm used to. As always, music wise, great tracks, good build throughout, just great stuff :D |

Yep this set was really nice. A great blend of techy and proggy house music. Especially liked that Vince Watson track, it's really good. Quality was noticably high on this mix. Did you get that Xone just for kicks, or is that thing actually making you some money?
Anyway good job man, keep em coming! |

VINYL!! So I'm not alone in using it anymore! :D

I hope you don't mind if I use your picture. I searched for something like this but didn't find it anywhere. You are great, man! :D |

Listening now, about halfway through and it's really good, some great tracks in there! Lots of stuff I haven't yet heard. Totally hitting the spot right now. The sound quality is indeed excellent, and I think that's cool you mixed completely on vinyl. I'm surprised Woscar isn't in this thread yet, he'd be all over this like white on rice.
WOW @ 35 min song... |

thanks man I'm putting your mix on my iphone right now =) and yes, the combination of a $5000 mixer (I paid much less for it) + vinyl records does indeed make for an absolutely amazing listening experience. Andy Rigby Jones, the guy that designed the V6 said "We just wanted to create the best rotary club mixer there has ever been. There are no tricks or gimmicks involved, just hard work researching the best components and painstaking development in discrete circuit design. We think that the serious audiophiles in the club and DJ world will find V6 a real breath of fresh air." I also read over at the Wave Music board (the biggest commuinity I've found of audiophile DJs who LOVE their rotarys) that the design team compared the V6 to the Bozaks, Ureis, and Ranes and concluded the V6 sounded the best out of all of them.
I wish I could afford this mixer just for kicks lol, I'm starting a mastering/mixdown service with this thing at the center of it. I'm having a friend build the site then I'm hoping to build a steady list of clients inside and outside of the dance music community.
DJsoulstone: I stole that image from google images, lol, have at it! =)
I'll have to check out that braxton holmes track, I thought I was pretty bloody clever coming up with it but I guess not, ha.
thanks for listening guys =) |
