If you want to become a big dj hang around for awhile until being a DJ isnt the cool thing to do anymore. There will be less competition.
The other problem is, at least in B-list cities like Philly, the economy is so ed that noone can keep a medium sized or large venue open. 10 years ago we had 5 or 6 of these clubs to choose from, there's now maybe 1 or 0 so everyones' throwing one off's in lounges, rented spaces, and restaurants. If the economy improves I think things will turn around, at least in my city. |

I havent been that into his new stuff so far. They are far from bad and I did think "The Shining" was a great track but the rest I have found to be just decent. I suppose given that he has been a hero of mine for so many years, I expect his releases to be 10/10 material every time! Again, I do like his newer stuff but just cant hold in the same regard as his DJing.....yet! But let's hope he gets better and better with each release. |

| danny's productions are garnering some extreme reactions. personally I can't see how anyone would be less than amazed with any of them, but I guess 'September' and 'The Shining' are really just a little above average prog house. I think in 6 months dig deeper will be sounding way better than it is right now though. |

well he's always had a timeless sound and that type of music doesnt always blow up in popularity. Sometimes their relevance only appears as time passes. Danny doesnt bandwagon jump so I feel his productions will always be "growers". Music that you have to listen to several times before fully appreciating them. |

| His productions might not be in the same class as his DJ sets, but I still think they're good tracks. The people criticising them in this thread are mainly the people who don't like much progressive, and as such like Howells for different reasons. That's all well and good, but you've got to accept that he has his roots in progressive house. It's always going to be an influence to him, and I fully respect the fact he's still producing tracks recognisably similar to the ones he was putting out twelve years ago, rather than selling out to a more trendy sound. |
