Oh none taken. I can easily see why they would be looked down upon, that's why I'm perfectly content with going back to school. But first, I'd like to ascertain what I want to go back to school for, what I feel I should study and capitalize on. That's the tricky part.

The fact is, the degree plays second fiddle to the work experience you have, if you ask me (then again, why ask me, I'm the idiot asking these questions :p), and I've got manager experience under my belt. I think that'll make my resume look all the more attractive. But of course, I can't solely rely on just that...going back to school is almost a necessity at this point.

A degree is never bad to have, but if you are looking for a specialized career you will probably have no choice but to go back to school.

Absolutely. Is there such thing as internships for people who have graduated? The internship fair here at my school contained literally NO companies looking for seniors; they wanted people that still had a year or two left of school. That's what I need...to actually get my hands dirty in a field that might propel my interest, to which then I can build on through graduate school.

Many of the people I know got their jobs through other people they knew, so networking is another big thing that might win me a battle or two.

Making money isn't difficult you just need to put the effort into it.

Oh sure, the simple act of making money is easy. But if I want a job that pulls in the big bucks, something that'll allow me to buy all kinds of toys and be able to raise a family worry-free, that's where the challenge comes into play.

And what exactly do you possess in terms of business knowledge that makes you think you can literally sell said knowledge to others?

Also, I don't doubt that job search engines work, but I just feel that you have to sift through a lot of bull before something even remotely worthwhile comes your way.

yeah, monster seems to work for most people...

you should also take an IQ test...

im kiddin' :p

It doesn't always apply to every industry, but people notice when they get a letter, emails don't have quite the same impact because there is so many of them.
So, type up your resume, get it printed out, tidy, throw in a cover sheet of why you're interested in working for them and you should at least get something from it eventually. By all means include an email as a return point of contact if you want

Good idea, didn't really think about this. Now, the next step is finding a job I truly care for to the point that I actually put forth the effort needed to make it happen. No harm in trying.

I realize that the degree I have may not be the best...but then I realize the number of other degrees out there that people get themselves into. Like Philosophy. If you aren't planning on teaching it, what is it going to get you? Or how about Sociology...what kind of jobs does that entail you? With the exception of teaching, probably not much. Those people are in the same boat as me...it's all about how you market yourself.

Actually, per capita, Philosophy is the highest-paying undergraduate major in the U.S. at something like an average of $75,000/graduate.

Psychology is last at like $28,000. Just sayin'.

Do you guys send things normal mail when you randomly send your cover letter/resume to companies or do you use email? Do people get more responses through sending things through snail mail or email do yah think?

i've actually heard some pretty good reviews about craigslist for jobs, as well as horrible. but at least there you are most likely dealing directly with the employer and it's YOU who is contacting them. rather than posting your info and waiting for an employer to contact you.

just sift through and i'm sure eventually you may actually find a decent job.

you are what we call a passive candidate. You put your resume out but are not really going after something. the career sites are good for those with real experience, this is what the headhunters search off of. They are not good for passive candidates.

So if you want to get started look for a company you like and apply. CityCenter is hiring here in vegas :)

Thing is, anyone who takes me up on the offer will be a millionaire, and it isn't hard, it is about cooperation. As long as they follow my instructions I'll make them a millionaire. Its not about how you make money but how you use money that really generates ample cash flow.

Gaurenteed, anyone who takes me up on the offer will be a millionaire.
