Usually you get soft-synths with 30 oscillators and 400 filters that market their amazing possibilities but forget one important thing. The sound.
I am not the guy that is biased against software but having tried most of them this was my conclusion as well.
Until I downloaded zebra 2.
I swear it right up there with anything else sonically at any price!!
And the sound shaping possibilities are insane!
Don't believe me? Demo.

i've been a long time zebra user but many FM soft synths match up to it, fm8, blue, etc. maybe you just aren't use to FM synthesis :) |

omnisphere?
Omnisphere doesn't count coz its a rompler.
massive?
Massive... I have it I don't ever use it in the mix. Its ''softsynth''
alchemy?
Good unique experimental synth not what I am looking for at a main softsynth.
Z3ta?
Does not work on mac.
Sylenth1?
Does not work on Powerpc mac.
access virus?
This is my main synth. I sold the b and not I am in the box with powercore.
I also use analog synths.
Sytrus
Good synth and you can create good sounds with it but its not up there with zebra 2. definitely worth the price for the download though.
Which brings us to zebra 2.
They should have called it Revelation. :eyes: Or ''hearing-is-believing'' Or ''softsynth-that-doesn't-suck''. That would be a nice name.
Cheers. |

I don't think the OP's intent was to ask our opinions regarding the "best.(soft)synth.ever" - I believe he was just stating that he views Zebra as the best softsynth ever and was looking for some dialog regarding that synth.
That said, no way Existo22 - Gladiator 2 is the best.(soft)synth.ever. :tongue3 |
I am downloading this right now. will post comments later.
Who knows? It might be good like zebra 2 the ''how-the-hell-did-they-make-a-softsynth-sound-so-good'' plug-in. |

The sole Synthesizer that I always have wanted and that I've never ever owned due to lack of opportunities and/or money (after 2003).
Roland JD-800. The best synth ever for me. It lacks dynamics, low end, a decent pair of DA converters, is only 32khz, and... it sounds amazing, after 18 years.
If you have one and don't know what to do with it, just pm. |

I've said it a million times, Spectrasonics has said it a million times, yet this myth perpetuates, so I'll say it again (only much louder for those of you can't read or haven't actually used it):
OMNISPHERE IS NOT A ROMPLER!!!
Does that clear it up? Yeah, I know - probably not since most people obviously don't even know the difference between a soft synth and a rompler. But, here's a snippet from the Omnisphere that might help clear up some confusion:
| quote: | From the Spectrasonics Omnisphere FAQ
Hmmm...Is Omnisphere a "real" synthesizer or just a "rompler"?
Omnisphere is no rompler! It is a powerhouse synthesizer that competes with the finest hardware and software synths at any level. Omnisphere indeed has "real" DSP oscillators that allow Hard Sync, FM PWM, Waveshaping and much more. Its STEAM Engine™ also excels at high definition sample streaming - the realtime manipulation features like Granular Synthesis, Harmonia, Timbre Shifting and Polyphonic Ring Modulation can also be applied to the sample oscillators.
It's really the best of both worlds!
