Anyone have a recommendation for a room in/around Hollywood for Sat. night? Friends are staying at The Standard Hollywood, but doesn't seem worth $200 to me (anyone have a comment on that?)
Thanks! |

| Renaissance Hollywood connected to Hollywood/Highlands complex or Roosevelt Hotel nearby. |

+1 on both. They may not be much cheaper though. You looking for a bargin or a fun place to stay or both? Both might be hard to find in Hollywood. |

| Looking for a good combination of decent place, and reasonable rate. The standard hollywood just seemed over-rated for the rate. Hollywood doesn't seem to have many that fit that bill. Since I know people that will be staying at the Standard and then heading to Vanguard, might end up there...but I just didn't think it was all that the one time I walked in to check it out....there was a $99 rate at the Roosevelt but it's sold out! Well, thanks for the tips guys. |

yeah, it's more than good enough to crash at. hotel's garage downstairs is pretty cheap, very convenient half a block away off hollywood blvd, a cheap cab ride down to the clubs, very bright (with too much fluorescent lighting) and relatively clean (nothing like the rush of pine-sol and disinfectant smell when you come into your room) |

ugh, no thanks. The renaissance is horrible inside, crap bar and quite basic rooms, for not cheap prices.
If you want that location you might as well go really cheap and go for the Liberty hollywood - not cool or a hangout but rooms start at like $69 and they are just simple and clean.
Forget the wanky hotels such as sls and standard - they're all just very basic hotels, with small rooms and loads spent on interior design. once you gt bored of looking at the funky lamps or clever lighting they are just like any other boxy hotel.
Famers duaghter can be fun in a group and a good location, with not too high prices. |

There are a couple more hotels in between Hollywood/Highlands and the 101 Highlands Freeway off ramp on Highland Ave. Look into those for a better rate (they keep changing their name) I know there is one that was built recently as well. |

I stayed at, I believe it was the Quality right there on Highland a few blocks from Hollywood. Decent rooms and I think it was around $60. Pretty close to everything. It's about 8 blocks from Vanguard. You could walk or catch a cab for like $7 bucks. |
