my mom already grows herbs and flowers. she also has 43 orchids in the damn house which i have to water for her while the family is in hong kong for a month.
i just think they may freak out when they see all my new gardening stuff when they get back. |
lol my parents have close to 400... parents enter competitions and stuff. have a dedicated green house and sunroom for them. my mom also bought a massive lamp from a police auction that was used to grow marijuana lol

I like this one. It also reminds me of my candy-smelly orchid, except mine has a brown look to it and not orange like yours. |

I started growing basil, rosemary and chives on my balcony. The basil is growing so fast I don't know what to do with it! lol
A good tip is use seaweed extract once a week when you water the plants. It gives them plenty of strength. |
i will be using hydroponic nutrients for mine.

On the topic of gardening does any one have any tips on how to protect potted flowers from squirrels?
My one pot is completely destroyed :( |
i read somewhere that you should put some human hair in pantyhose at the base of the plant (over the soil) cuz the scent will keep unwanted animals away. |

holy 400? damn!
what kind of light did they get? metal halide or high pressure sodium? how many watts?
and why would they get a light for orchids? generally, orchids dont want direct light because they will burn and root dry out too quickly. |

ya my mom spends like 3-4 hours a day minimum caring for them, then my dad for 2 hrs when he gets home from work. funny thing is they dont even use the light lol.. it was an early purchase before they realized it wasn't needed |

they should sell it. they could get decent money for it depending on the wattage of the ballast... and even more money if it is a digital ballast. |

| Hey Jay... why are you growing the mega hot peppers? Do you actually have the stomach for them, or are you growing them for culinary bragging rights. I would think that you'd have to use it sparingly in a meal or it would be overwhelming. |

im just doing it cuz... hmm i really have no reason. i felt like growing something so i decided to grow that. they say that a sliver of naga jolokia is enough to spice up an entire pot of food. i enjoy spicy food so it should be interesting to try.
i just picked up a pack of thai basil from sheridan nurseries to grow hydroponically as well. gonna start them in rockwool right now. |

Looks like by this time next year you'll be putting down the camera and starting a cooking/growing show on CBC! |
