was curious as to whether these effects are good enough to use? they seem impressive enough, like the compressor having side chaining as a standard feature... bit crusher seems to do pretty well... opinions any one?

I haven't used them, but I think they are okay. You do know that Cubase 5 is out, don't you?

They're decent enough I think.
Far as I know, Cubase 5's is far better.

I think the inbuilt plugins are great.

Well, I know the ones in 3 suck balls and I wouldn't expect much better from 4 or even 5. Either way, I didn't pay thousands for UAD plugs to not use them.
No Left Turn
Since Cubase 4 (I'm now on 5), I have found myself using the built-in plugs a lot more. Most of the time, they are my primary plug-ins for EQ/Compression/Gating and I tend to only my RNDigital plug-ins for very specific processing. This is probably more out of habit or convenience rather than sound quality, although there is going to be an obvious difference using D4 as opposed to Multiband Compressor.
