Windows 7 upgrade

I'm considering upgrading my OS platform from XP 64-bit to Windows 7, but if it's another Vista nightmare then I'll pass.
is anyone running Win 7? if so, what is the performance like? |

Windows 3.1 > Vista. i haven't really been doing much research into 7, so i'm not sure if it's gonna be any good. |

| My buddy's firm out in cali was actually one of the contracted firms for Microsoft for debugging and beta testing... he said Windows 7 is basically everything Vista was SUPPOSED to be and more. Stable, solid, streamlined. He's hookin me up with a copy. I will be more than happy to share if anyone wants one :D |
