we'll see

Good luck, hope it works out. Keep us posted

you guys have some awful consumer laws. store gets to take your money but takes no responsibilty at all for the products you pay them for.

You really didn't get the statement. If the GUARANTOR, as in the company that is providing the guarantee, goes out of business, then how can you go after the store if the aren't they guarantor? If you walk into Guitar Center, and buy a Guitar Center extended warranty, then Guitar Center will be the guarantor and therefore responsible for fulfilling the warranty. If you buy an extended warranty from that same store, but the guarantor is a third party, then the store is absolved of liability.

How is that bad? I make a product, you run a store, you sell my products and 3rd party extended warranties. The warranty company goes bankrupt/liquidates, and now you have to replace John Smith's device? How is that even smart? Best Buy has to replace Xbox 360's now just because they sell them? Come the on.

Well, while I don't disagree that newer is not always better, I would take a new unit over a busted unit.

alright so...the repair shop calls me in last week going, "ya we basically blackmailed pssl.com on your behalf, you'll get it repaired under warranty, we shipped the unit out to A&H today"

they call me this morning around 8, said it came in, brand spanking new, in a brand spankin' new box. i go in, take the unit, open it up at home and i can't believe my eyes. instead of a xone 3d, they shipped out a ing xone 4d instead.

i am speechless

alright, i'm pissed. the xone works great

but, i get a call from this **** who had my CDJ still at the shop, i'm like ya i'd like for you guys to ship it back to me since i didn't agree upon the repair price (which was 800$) at the time.

when i called he goes, ya it says 350$ for the repair here, i pause for a second and basically explain to them that it wasn't 350$ when they called, it was 800$. they tell me it's now part of their stock and they scrapped it for parts. what ing c*nts do that? basically, i emailed the guys, since they don't work on weekends, telling them that they better either replace my unit or give me 850$ for the cost of a brand new CDJ.

anyone have any suggestions as to how far I can take this? they have no right taking my like it's their property without even CLEARING it with me to begin with. who the does that? bunch of crooks. i'm ing furious right now

Wait. Let me get this straight.

1) You shipped your CDJ in there to be repaired (or for a quote on the repair). Presumably, at your own cost.

2) You got the quote from them ($800), and said to them "No, it's too much".

3) ~~~ some amount of time passed? ~~~

4) You asked them to ship it back (presumably at your own cost as well?)

5) You were informed that it had been scrapped for parts, without your permission.

Is that right?

i drove up to the place, dropped it off. paid 60$ to have it inspected to see what was wrong. they call me saying it'll cost 800$ to repair, i said it's too much and i don't want it repaired and i'll be taking it back when my xone gets repaired. i get my xone back, they ship it out on their charges, i ask them what about my CDJ, and they tell me it's part of their stock because i didn't agree upon repair fees, and that it's been scrapped for parts for other use.

what the ?

How thoroughly have you checked their terms and conditions? Would this kind of thing be specifically included in those?

If not, yeah, you can fully sue them. It might end up costing you more than $800 though, for legal fees, etc. They're probably expecting that.

Might be worth checking if others have had this kind of issue with that company too. Nothing gets the ball rolling like the words 'class action lawsuit'.

there was no 'contract'

they simply made me sign that i dropped my units off (on a 1 sided paper, stating the units model and problem), and that was it. i'm waiting for them to reply to my e-mail tomorrow

Maybe they have a limit on the time they will hold your crap? I know Best buy, if i send my laptop in for repairs, and they dont repair it and send it back to the store... if i dont pick it up in 30 days, they will throw it away.
