opened for him a few years back. just played a prerecorded set and acted like a doofus. musical content was questionable imo |

so the only proof the world has is nefardec's word? i find it hard to believe he hit play and didn't do anything else computer wise the entire show. very hard to believe. isnt there an article or video or something that shows how he plays his mashups live? |

If you look further down in the thread, another guy (fpcookie) says that Girl Talk did the same thing in Melbourne. |

yeah, pretty sure there's an MWTA that opened for him and saw a similar thing. just pressed play and messed around with the EQ. |

| In the videos I've seen of him, he's nearly always bouncing around like a monkey on meth, so I guess it stands to reason that he couldn't be doing anything very involved on the computer. |

| And DJs like Oakie that beatmatch track A and track B while fiddling with the EQ knobs are soooooo much better. I mean, they're actually doing something so it must be a better show. |

| I've never actually seen Girl Talk live so I didn't know he didn't actually DJ. That sucks, I thought he was like super skilled and did live mixing, kinda lame that all those mashups are pre-recorded. |

i dont mind an ableton set as long as it sounds good. i do remember a vid that showed him scrolling through a list of names and dragging them to another area on the screen while the music was playing.
i think its good that djs put constant scrutiny on "live acts" and keep them under close watch to make sure the integrity is there, because it is important. but, i dont like it when something is considered a fact just because a couple of opening DJs said so. i want proof, not hearsay.
anyway, if really all he does is hit play on a 1 hour long mp3, then that wireless thing he does with his portable desk strapped to his waist and neck playing outside in the street/alley outside the venue is really really sad and fraudulent. |

| he uses cool edit, not ableton. |

He uses AudioMulch, not Cool Edit. That's probably why these opening DJs thought he was playing a pre-recorded file, because the screen didn't look like Ableton or Serato. He must be a fake! |

As long as it's not Windows Media Player or something equally as silly, it's okay. Pre-recorded would suck, hopefully he at least does something live besides dance around like a jackass. |
