On 27th July, 2009, UNKLE’s James Lavelle will release GU37 BANGKOK, his most radical and creative Global Underground mix to date. It’s a rainbow of sound, dazzling with colour. A spectrum of some of the most exciting sounds in electronic music today. GU37 BANGKOK dawns with a flourish of orchestral violins and goes on to deliver on all fronts: original, wide-ranging, cohesive, with shades of darkness and light, and tough, continuously funky grooves. Lavelle’s new mix album is smooth but with rough edges. There are tracks taken from the 50 or so already short-listed for the new UNKLE album – like ‘Heavy Drug’, as well as tracks and remixes from The Big Pink, Radiohead, School of Seven Bells, James Holden, Doves, Animal Collective, Dubfire, Fergie and more! There are certain mix albums that remain on top of the pile, and this is definitely one.

TRACKLISTING:

14. Mystery Jets - Two Doors Down (Reconstructed by Duke Dumont)

...yeah, we have the perfunctory (and somewhat behind the times) nod to minimal on the second disc, though it seems to have a bit more flavor and personality than mixes bearing a similar orientation.

Nevertheless, if there's anything to be optimistic about, it's the first disc for me.

I don't really agree with the UNKLE expose, but I guess that first CD does look somewhat interesting. Still, I might not even bother with this one.

i'll probably buy this i dont have any of Lavelle work.

I'm still waiting for GU: Montreal hopefully some dj finally chooses montreal.

It be a nice change and get like Richie Hawtin signed onto GU for once :p

That is one of the most ridiculously uninspired and lazy tracklists I have ever seen.

I think the last GU I listened to more than once was Danny Howells Miami (27 I think). Will it ever get back to being a good or even respectable mix series?
