| i am so screwed my life sucks ass. YEsterday i was downloading ALOT of stuff form direct connect and all of a sudden my hard drive starts clicking. IT won't stop and it won't even boot up. I am so pissed right now i want to blow up western digital. Frekain cheap ass hd company. Oh frys sucks too, i buy a supposedly new harddrive and turns out the bag is already opened :whip: so whta do i do? i lost like 3 gigs of uh pics and 12 gigs of music. |

i'd get a maxtor hd...
i think i have a 20gig one...
and its 95% full :p
my advice would to be : dont download so bloody much, ur hard drive will literally cook
lmao, get a 100000000rpm fan with liquid nitrogen cooling system
it'll be colder than the ice age :happy2: |

the question is if its a dead drive or not, and if my files are completely lost. My main old hd was a 40gb maxtor, pretty reliable.
my new one is a western digital 100gb 7200 rpm. I'm gonna return it to the worlds tiest store and get a maxtor
oh and i found out that it was a bad head or something. BUt someone told me that i could hook up the messed up drive as slave and recover some of my files. He said it rarely works. I did it and everything is perfect. I am so happy. now i gotta return the drive. |

| oh yea, i think i'm one of the few on here who had their hd crash with no backups and actually recovered all their music but lost my other uh files :tongue3 |

is the hard drive dead or not... hmmm...
do a full scandisk and check the 'scan surface area' option [for a full scan, and leave alone for a few hours
if there r some bad sectors of the disk, then the mp3s @ that point of the hd is gone/fkd/w00sh! |
