Hi,
I'm having a problem with a bass pattern. I use a Subbass and a bassline when I listen both in solo mode they sounds good, but in the mix qhen they reach the higher notes of the patter they go "out of control" I mean hte higher notes seems to sound higher and even unpleasant. Does everyone have had the same prblem? what can I do to solve this?
Compress? EQ? change patches?
thanks in advance |

| I think I know what you mean, have you tried lowering the velocities of the higher bass notes? I usually have to do that when creating octave jumping basslines. That and EQ would be useful, but as mentioned before, just upload a quick sample so we can have a listen. |

I have two answers :
1) I am guessing you need to sidechain them with the kick.
2) You can look up the art of "psycho-acoustics" in the net, as it might help you...
Good luck figuring it out ! |

| Poor melody construction is usually the problem, go back and work with some other bassline melos. |

| yeah what steff just said is normally the main reason why people cant make good basslines. try a simple of beat bass pattern over a bar and before thinking of eq compression ect. use the piano roll and hunt for different notes and take it from their. |
