ReFx Nexus??

Hi, I'm new to this site and wanted to know what your thoughts are about the Nexus synth? I'm getting ready to get back into making music and was thinking of going with FL studio and Nexus to start. I have a Triton and An1x that I used yrs ago, but want something easy and convenient to use on the go. what do you all think of Nexus? Can you run external sound liek vocals etc through Nexus and record it to Fl Studio?

Any advice would be great....

Why would you want to run vocals through Nexus? I don't think it's primarily an effects unit, is it?

No, it's not an effects plugin and you can't run vocals or any other external audio through it. It's strictly a rompler that plays back Nexus factory content and expansions. But, it comes with a ton of trance sounds ready to go. One thing to look out for is the cost of the expansions ($80 each), which can really start to get expensive. If you think you're going to be in this for the long run, it's much more cost-effective to buy one or two decent soft synths and learn how to program/tweak your own sounds.

Thanks for the info.

Is there an affordable soft synth that accepts externally routed sounds?

Native instruments and Arturia allow you to route audio in. But its really not that useful... what sort of effect are you looking for out of curiousity?

I'd go for V-Station and a synth or two from Arturia.

And a new avatar... preferably one with a shirt on.

Damn... you beat me to it.

It seems like any avatar with yourself in it, is, by default, homosexual. Especially the ones where someone is looking off into the distance, or their eyes are closed with their headphones on, etc.

(and not in the flattering 40-year-old-modest-homosexual kind of way, no, I am referring to the homosexual equivalent of an over-sexed-jock-heterosexual kind of way)

BTW it's proven that synthesizers sound better and are easier to program when your shirt is on.

ON TOPIC: Oh and I love using Reaktor's multitude of presets and effects for vocal effects.

I think we can easily draw the conclusion that the avatar is of him. :stongue:
