Apologies if I'm just regurgitating things other people have already said, but Strike - if it's decent ambient/chillout you want then I strongly suggest that you check out Chicane's albums 'Far From The Maddening Crowds' and 'Behind The Sun'. My personal Chicane faves are 'Overture', 'No Ordinary Morning' and 'Sunstroke', as well as 'Saltwater (The Thrillseekers Remix)' :D
On a par with Chicane in my opinion is Michael Woods; here are a few of my fave remixes and productions he's done:
Accadia - Into The Dawn (Accadia Ambient Mix)
Saints and Sinners - Peace (Michael Woods Remix)

i thought it got worse towards the end tho

Gotta go with the classics... Art Of Noise - Moments In Love, recently featured on the aforementioned Solar Stone compilation "Chilled Out Euphoria". This was originally released in 1984 (!) and is based around a beautiful pan flute melody. Sublimely hypnotising and highly recommended!
