is there any DJ in town that specialises in old school goa?, if not I should really invest in a small mixer and crown myself king of old goa. (and play some occasional parties armed with CDs)

anyways, it sounds like an interesting concept neverless, if its still around in the late summer / fall, I'll definatly pay a visit

Hmm, I didn't mean to insult anyone who likes the old sound, but the new sound really has broken new ground. I mean the old goa sound is the "goa" sound. I guess what I'm trying to convey (and forgive me if I have done it poorly) is that the new sound is **vastly** different from the old sound, so that people who may have been turned off the old sound will try again on the new.

But again, they are totally different, and to each their own. (Although be warned, we don't play too much goa, although I'm known to play a few choice "old school" sounding tracks :)

Peace all, and come try out the new music June 28! Support the scene and all that! :)

Hey gang,

This Friday brings us another installment of Full-OM. If you haven't checked out one of these events yet, be sure to stop by this week. The Labyrinth Lounge is an excellent venue and will be decked out again with our unique blacklight deco.

This week also brings the addition of uplifting progressive trance in the downstairs level courtesy of Kid Epic and his production partner Kardio, and they'll be playing some of their latest creations.

As usual we'll have your full array of psychedelic groove going on upstairs. The night will start off with some scando stuff mixed with some more uplifting funky psy. Then the BLA crew will take you on a deep psy tech-trance journey. Closing the night off will be an extended set of the latest full-on sounds...twisted, chugging, dark and heavy!

See you Friday...

A Special Message To Those Who Still Think The World Is Flat:

Goa died a long time ago. R.I.P.!!! A few people made some nice tracks, many imitated (most of those who did, did so poorly). I'll agree that some of the old stuff is nice, it's what switched me on to it all, but it was a very restricted form. To say that the old goa sound is the only good or real psy-trance betrays an ignorance about the amazing music that has consistently been released since late '99. Only in NOrth America (the pluto of the psy-trance solar system) could people posess this limited view of things, having little access to what's going on in the creative centres. The new sounds are not better simply because of better production skills, groovier heavy chugging baselines and more impressively detailed percussion, but because of the 'no rules' attitude that has taken hold, resulting in a broad spectrum of very strong sub-genres. Under this tent of psychedelic trance you now find really funky twisted techish stuff (eg. Yumade, Paps, MOS...), supremely groovy minimal progressive (amphasis, magnetrixx, charasmatix), uplifting 'scando' progressive (s-range, logic bomb, noma), and chugging aggressive full-on trance (neuromotor, nomad, absolum...)...and everything in between and crossing through those camps. All of it is really amazing music and if you haven't truly, you should give it a serious listen...expand your horizons!!!
