This is a fun trick I found out year and years ago.
For instance checking my net log I can see that someone from iceland or using an iceland IP accessed my site

for instance posting this will give me everyones ip who reads this post
This is not to say everyone who reads this post is using their actual IP.. but it will give me an idea to see if they are using an anonymous, hacked, or cloned IP. Not that I bother with security analysis since I run a honeypot anyway.
I've never been a hacker.. the worst I've done is pinged a bunch of military and national security ips when I was learning about scanning years ago.
Stuff like this can come in handy.. http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy/howto.htm but you need to do a lot more like learn to clear ISP caches, and bounce a certain number of IPs or if posible use dial in etc.. . |
