To get a great perc groove I use individual hits from loops but am deliberatley sloppy with my start and end points by a few ticks. That way its less clinical and some great grooves can be had.

i love alot of shuffle/swing on my tracks, and I love how easy it is in FL, just drag the Main Swing bar to desired %age, and BAM! tribal heaven hehe... i usually have around 55% + on my tracks... only thing i don't like about it is that it only effects the step sequencer and not the piano roll.

Heh, no wonder the swing slider never did anything when I moved it, I don't use the step sequencer. Everything is in the piano roll on pattern 1.

Once you've laid down your swing pattern you can Right Click Channel->Send to Piano Roll

Also, you can use the Quantizer in the piano roll. It even comes packed with some groove templates, with different types of swing etc.

Or to get a cool humanized effect, change the snap setting to 'None' on the Piano Roll and draw notes to desired effect.

I use swing in nearly every production. I make house music.

Anywhere between 30% and 60% swing works wonders for me. Straight 16th hats sound so static to me.

Try drawing in standard 16th note hats, side-chain them to the kick drum and quantize them to 50% swing, sounds a hell of a lot better imo.

i'll try these out, and let you know how it goes. i use reason and it has shuffle mode (which i've never used).

If you're in piano roll change the quantize settings to suite I believe 16T worked when I created that minimal swing on my stabby synth lines.

Or even better use the Regroove mixer on you're perc's. That mixer is built for adding swing to your tracks. It has many templats and is very useful, although I didnt use it much lol.

i associate swing more with house music than i ever would with 'minimal'
music2dance2
some of the perc's sounding parts have some swing on them in minimal
