ableton live recording vocals problem

I currently have an m-audio nova mic running directly into m-audio fast track pro with phantom power on. When I start recording vocals in Ableton at the rate of 48khz, the recording doesn't sound smooth. It sounds like it can't record all the info in time (static, poppish). So I figured increasing the buffer time would help a lot. I increased the input buffer to 512, to 1000, to 5000, all of them seem to have no difference (actually at 5000, for some reason the recording got worse).
Then I tried recording the audio in Adobe Audition, and it sounded perfect. So I know that my hardware is fine, it's just the software.
How do I fix this problem in ableton live? |
