With a one sentence post like that, I'd say pretty damn low.

Alt?

around zero

i also gotta second skell's post

you're coming to the worst city in the entire world for djs

unfortunately, since every other person in LA is a 'dj' you will have to be the entertainment, the promoter, and a customer all at the same time. if you really enjoy it then its not a big deal, but expect a big difference from ireland

well that sucks.

Going to bring some promo's with me just incase,il be sad leaving the cdj's behind me :(

just become a regular of some parties that you like the vibe and music, get to know the promoters, support and you will be supported eventually.

going around handing promos honestly will not work.

He can talk to Cache. A fellow Irishman :)
Don't let them get you down man. If you got the talent and drive, you'll get gigs. Just might take some time. You just can't think you're above anyone and you take what you can get. Better be ready to play for free too. You got to get to know people and promoters. There are a lot of djs in LA, but there are also a lot of club nights and parties. Just get out as much as you can. Find the spots you like and go as often as you can. There are a lot of weeklies and bi-weeklies that have great music, a great crowd and a lot of regulars. I've seen a lot of djs go from nothing to regular locals just by getting out there and working the scene. You'll like it here.
Got Trance?
Yeah just get your grind on and you will get some gigs in no time, meet as as many promoters as you can

I agree with Reese. There are plenty of haters in this town. Believe it or not, house is finally now becoming the default genre at the club (it is in every other city in the world, however LA and US in general has went through a hip hop movement which is slowly dying).

You must go to the events you hear about. Introduce yourself to the DJ's. $100 an hour you are getting paid well.

I may even give you floor time if you wanna do it for free or on a per head basis. (might be starting a house weekly during the week in Hollywood)

Why don't you start by posting a set of yours? What's your style of play?

Last point of advice: Try to get a day job.

It may be tough at first, but pay your dues and stick it out. LA is fukin great. You'll like it here!

If you are hungry enough, good things will eventually come your way. Just asking probably wont get you much besides non paying gigs. You gotta hustle, show something that might be of interest to a promoter or club owner or whoever throws parties. Network with the right people.
