if you're getting flown out usually they should be providing transportation, hotel/place to stay and food/drinks along with the obvious flight expense and your fee
asking to do a soundcheck isn't a bad idea either, usually you do it then head out to dinner, get ready then go rock the show |

Is your name big enough to draw hundreds of people?
If it isn't than you really can't ask for anything out of this world, like a jar full of pink M&M's. lol However, you can always ask for a ride to the gig, some drink tickets, and for standard WORKING DJ equipment (CDJ's, Turntables, Mixer). But, be realistic. Don't ask for a Xone 4D or a DJM1000. Trust me, most clubs DON'T HAVE THESE. You can try asking for a DJM800. A Xone 92 will be a bit harder to get.
Since they're flying you in, I'm assuming you also asked for a hotel room. Don't go PVD and ask for the suite at the Four Seasons, you won't get it! However, you can get a nice room at a decent hotel.
The key here is being REALISTIC as to how much you're worth and how much the promoter will be willing to INVEST in you.
I played at many clubs across California & Northern Mexico and quickly found out I had to be realist. I found out that when you're the least demanding the promoters will treat you very well.
Last summer I played in the mountains and all I asked was for a cheap hotel room, when I met up with the promoters at the mountains they gave me the keys to a freakin High-End CABIN! When I opened the door to the cabin, there was two bottles of champagne, bottle of grey goose, limes, cranberry juice, the whole works! It was NICE!!! |

Congrats for the gig!
Im in Dortmund at the moment, and we flew here with my mate yesterday. This is my third gig in here (Club Le Grand).
The soundcheck ain't bad idea at all. Its good to test the system in advance in case of something goes wrong with the setup.
Good luck and have a blast! |
