| I've been doing 5 sets of 25 sit-ups a day for about 2-2 1/2 weeks, but I've only recently learnt that this won't make you lose fat around your stomach it only stregnthens your abs. So by doing this I will never see any results:( So Iam looking for an excersize that will help me to lose weight very fast. Iam guessing this means the excersize that burns calories the most:rolleyes: Does anyone have any suggestions? |

The fastest way to burn fat is to run, and run allot. Get into your "cardio zone" which is 70% of your maximum heart rate. (I think it's 70%). Basically you want to be a sweaty mess after running.
Cardio above the heart rate zone burns sugar, not muscles. Cardio under the heart rate zone burns nothing.
Cardio less than 15 minutes burns carbo. Cardio for 15 minutes to 20 minutes burns fat.
Cardio, of course, means SUSTAINED cardio. Using alternate cardio machines is more effective than using one machine alone (Eg. 5 minutes stepper, 5 minutes rower, 5 minutes track, 5 minutes bike).
Lift weights before the cardio, not after.
Or, circuit train, which is a VERY effective way to lose fat and develop muscular definition.
Do cardio thrice a week, and it should be more than enough. Control diet. Most important tip in getting muscle definition: NO carbs after 7pm. At night your body moves all carbs & sugar into storage (fat) because you are preparing to sleep and your metabolism slows down.
To get your abs into shape start a ab routine, it's not that hard.
Just do this daily
12 x2 cruches (Two sets of 12 reps)
12 x2 twisting crunches
12 x2 leg lifts/ reverses crunches
Don't forget to drink LOTS of water (2-3L/day) and increase your protein intake. Avoid soft drinks which have alot of "empty" calories and a ton of sugar. Ye 'ol water is all natrual and still the best thing for you.
Also DO NOT skip breakfast, then eat a huge lunch. Eat 4-5 small meals throught the day. When you skip a meal your body has the idea of "we are around no food, must store all food (fat)". So when you do have that 1 huge meal a day your body thinks that you are in the wild starving for food and it must store it. Reason: You have to keep your metabolism active all day, so add small amounts of fuel to your furnace and it will be burning calories all day.
You are going to hear conflicting advise for people so just find out what works for you (everyone's body is different from one another). |

....or you could just join the military ;)
Blake hit the nail right on the head. We do a rigorous 30-minute run 3-4 days a week here. And yes, it keeps you in shape.
FYI doing situps does burn fat around your abdominal muscles. Technically you are burning away the fat that hides the ab muscles you already have.

You can't target one area of the body with one repetative excersise and just think it will slim down to perfection. Doesn't happen this way.
I always hate to see people trying to tone only one part of their body...toning their arms, when their stomachs look like a huge donut...or trying to make their abs look like steel when their thighs looks like jello. IT doesnt work this way!You want to be proportioned properly.
With proper diet, proper cardio excersise and PROPER target excersise you will DEFINITELY see results. And this doesn't mean killing yourself either by doing 200 reps in 5 minutes...just need to have some serious patience (and not 2 weeks) & dedication (discipline!). For example...do at least 30 min of cardio excersise for at least 4-5 days a week. This means, running, walking, cycling...etc etc...
Then do the target excersise at least 4-5 days a week....ab workout, arm toning, leg toning...etc etc....do 2-3 SLOW reps. You burn a lot of fat this way.
These work outs help out in many ways! Not just by toning the body, but by speeding up metabolism, slimming down all over, helping to keep the WHOLE body tone and feeling better overall. Along with proper dieting, you will see results in no time!
Just keep working at it and you will feel like a million dollars when you reach that sensible ab goal! I guarantee it! ;)
Good luck! |

- do cardio 3 times per week,
- go for about 20 minutes each time,
- do it first thing in the morning, before eating (you can burn up to 3 times as much fat this way - just be sure to drink lots of water)

| cardio takes too long to burn it off. Look at the people on treadmills and bikes and they are fat. Lean muscle tissue is the energy eater. Lift weights. |

yes, running is the best way... also, try playing serious sports, like organized basketball, or soccer, even if it's with your friends. I play pick up ball at a gym and the people there play some serious ball, guranteed a good workout....my friends have recently taken a liking to soccer and we try to gather up as many people and have games, it's great because there's not enough for full teams but we use the whole field so there is a lot of running involved.
you should also join a gym. eat only food that serves a purpose to you (ie. no junk food) and pretty much change your mentality towards life and how you go about it. it all starts in the head.... |
