Tiesto is the SouljaBoy of trance.
Crank Dat 'what ever tesito made' song, yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!! |

this brings up a good question: who has contributed more to "trance" for the better since they've reached the #1 dj status? tiesto or avb? |

If Tiesto drives hoards of people together he doesn't only expose himself but he exposes trance simply as a genre of music.
As Tiesto brings in new fans he also makes a lot of people who may have not like trance like it now. BECAUSE those people now like trance, they search for other artists, other artists that may have never been found if Tiestos name and music wasn't out there like it is.
So whether you realize or understand, tiesto is not just doing a favor for himself, hes doing it for trance as a whole. I call that "doing something good" and any nonignorant person would call it the same thing. |

He isn't help trance, he is providing music and replacing real trance with his music, and people buy into that and futher only like music untill eventually there is only music. When these people hear about Cubase or Reason, they pirate them, make more crap music, put it out and the whole process repeats. Eventually any and all good aspects of trance will vanish.
Same happened to rap music. Happened to Rock music. Happened to Metal music. Someone new comes along and changes things, most of the time, those changes are worse, in case of EDM, it is worse.
You are making the implication that EDM doesn't have a lot of listeners anymore, and you are right, it doesn't, and its because of people like Armin, Testio etc etc... They don't contribute to those that come, they cause the ones that are here to leave, and new people aren't joining the scene as fast as the old people are leaving.
The major and most widely accepted view that Trance died around 2001 doesn't exist for no reason. |

First of all, why is there always such a negativity in your posts. Just relax man!
Second, you are entitled to your own opinion regarding Tiësto, I think that lot's of people disagree with you (so do I)! Tiësto is a great artist, and he also put trance, as well as The Netherlands on the map, I'm proud that he is a Dutch artist!
And saying he is equal to Basshunter, what's that BS all about, Tiësto is a former world's best DJ, so you can't compare that. And with that, he 'made' 3 top selling solo artist albums and did a lot (and I mean a lot) of top selling compilation albums. Also the different collaborations with BT must tell something, because, production wise, BT is the bomb!
It's true, Tiësto is a commercial company. But shouldn't you do that if you had the oppertunity? I know I would. I mean, AvB is heading the same direction, as Paul van Dijk is. How great is it to make loads of money doing something you really like. Everybody does it when they have the oppertunity, if you say you don't, I think you are lying.
Again, I think you are entitled to your opinion, just don't force it to anybody else. I really like Tiësto, and have nothing but respect for him and what he achieved! |
