In my experience, Latinos believe in God, and are very conservative and family-oriented. Looks like a lot of other people have the same fear.

Some abortion rights advocates are quietly expressing unease that Judge Sotomayor may not be a reliable vote to uphold Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 abortion rights decision.
...
Judge Sotomayor was raised Roman Catholic... Moreover, he said, it is significant that as a group, Hispanics include a higher percentage of abortion opponents than many other parts of the Democratic Party’s coalition.

who cares? The importance of this issue is way overblown.
overturning Roe v. Wade means kiddies in nebraska, oklahoma, texas, and other red states can't get abortions. |

This was one of the first things that struck me yesterday. Since Roe V. Wade is such a polarizing issue, where is she likely to come down on it? Well, she's a woman so maybe she's pro-choice, but then again, she's catholic so maybe an ardent pro-lifer (though I know catholics who are pro-choice, so who knows). As the article in the Times points out today, it's an issue where she really doesn't have a well known track record so it's a jump ball as far as I'm concerned.
However, I've always maintained that I think Roe V. Wade and abortion in general are simply too controversial for us to see any real action ever taken on them.
However, and I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, Sotomayor still needs major plastic surgery. |

| On this very subject and nomination. It would be nice to keep the discussion to 1 thread. |
